Forecast of hot and humid with heavy showers starting at noon; major traffic backups, and having this event on Saturday must have stop many persons from coming. Francis Hogle came about an hour after closing, saying he was in several traffic jams and a couple of downpours. The low turnout was a shame because this event was using the excellent map the Greg and Kathy Lennon fieldchecked and produced.

The early starters had temperature in the low 80's with high humid. When it began raining they would delighted until it really came down hard. I think this was the reason for so many dfns. Kris Beecroft handled the registration while Valerie Meyers handle the printing of the map and handling the epunching. Dan Jacobs and a new member Tom Shubet manned the gate into the park. Also thanks Caitlin Haarrison for bring me the controls and to Kris and Greg coming back on Sunday to collect the controls.

We were only using the western part of the park which was only 350 acres. This required courses to have legs that cross. I was able to have a leg on brown, red and blue that was over one kilometer long. I tried to make the advance courses hard, figuring the cool May we were having would continue. A few leg gave some trouble. One was the third control on Orange, which I design as a easy leg. I thought it was to cross the small stream, up to the finger and then along the narrow ridge line. What happen was they went up the wrong finger.

I am hoping everyone would add their route onto RouteGadget, This is something as course setter I can learn from.
